A warning that some of you may find pictures in this report distressing. Earlier Israeli forces killed two Palestinian children during yet another raid in Jenin. Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratfords from Jenin, the Occupied West Bank. Israeli forces have killed a nine-year-old Palestinian boy and a 15-year-old teenager during a raid in the Jenin refugee camp in the Occupied West Bank. Disturbing footage shows the moment Adam Al-Ghoul and Basel Abu al-Wafa were shot by Israeli forces. It comes after Israel’s army raided Jenin for hours and declared the area a closed military zone. Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford reports from the Jenin refugee camp in the Occupied West Bank.

Col. (ret.) Lawrence Wilkerson’s last positions in government were as Secretary of State Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff (2002-05), Associate Director of the State Department’s Policy Planning staff under the directorship of Ambassador Richard N. Haass, and member of that staff responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, political-military and legislative affairs (2001-02). Before serving at the State Department, Wilkerson served 31 years in the U.S. Army. During that time, he was a member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval War College (1987 to 1989), Special Assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-93), and Director and Deputy Director of the U.S. Marine Corps War College at Quantico, Virginia (1993-97). Wilkerson retired in 1997 and began work as an advisor to General Powell. He has also taught national security affairs at the George Washington University and is currently working on a book about the first George W. Bush administration.

Burkina Faso’s President, Ibrahim Traoré, recently laid the foundation stone for the nation’s first gold refinery, in partnership with local company Marena Gold. The refinery boasts an annual refining capacity of 150 tonnes.

East African Community continues on a trajectory of expansion as Summit admits Somalia into the bloc

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 25th November, 2023: The East African Community has once more expanded its borders and market size with the admission of the Federal Republic of Somalia as the 8th member of the bloc.

The Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State at their 23rd Ordinary Meeting held in Arusha, Tanzania on Friday, 24th November, 2023 considered the Report of the EAC Council of Ministers on the Negotiations with the Federal Republic of Somalia into the EAC, and resolved to admit Somalia as a full member of the Community.

The Summit further designated the Chairperson of the Summit, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, to agree with Somalia on when to sign the Treaty of Accession of the Somalia into the Community.

The Summit further directed that within six (6) months after the signing of the Treaty of Accession, Somalia shall be required to deposit the instrument of ratification with the Secretary General.

PD Lawton is the founder and editor of africanagenda.net. In this episode she explains the underlaying reasons why Norway and several other Western countries bombed Libya in 2011. Former President Muammar Gaddafi made Libya incredible wealthy by nationalizing their oil and the banking system. The country had big gold and silver reserves, and no depth to The World Bank or International Monetary Fund (IMF) – which is exceptionally unusual in the region. At the time that Norway invaded and dropped 588 bombes over the country, Gaddafi was in the process of creating an African currency backed by gold. He also held a speech in the UN General Assembly, where he addressed Western corruption. Lawton believes that the financial interests of “the bankers” are behind the Libyan war – as well as the current ones in Ukraine and Israel/Gaza.
