Media Statement

For Immediate Release

President’s Climate Report is “flawed, simplistic and inadequate”, and not in South Africa’s interests.

An industry response.

Johannesburg

We welcome the invitation to contribute substantively to the final Report..

The recently released Draft Report of the Presidential Climate Commission (PCC) (the “Report) is disappointingly flawed, simplistic and inadequate. A dispassionate analysis shows it as lacking depth, expertise and professionalism according to industry experts. This Assessment is a response to the Report and highlights the failures and omissions in the approach taken by the authors, who, curiously, are not named, which in itself is disturbing. We should know who is driving PCC thinking, which might become South Africa’s energy policy. Contentious responses to climate change concerns are driving energy policy, and therefore must be examined rigorously and tested by all who care about where the country and climate are headed. The focus must be on enabling the country to generate the electricity it needs to create growth and real jobs. Only then, can the laudable if flawed ideology of renewable energy sources take centre stage.

Conversation with Dr. Pali Lehola, former RSA Statistician General

“You see there has been the Chicago School, Milton Friedman`s market fundamentalism, that has influenced South Africa.AND THAT INFLUENCE IS IN THE TREASURY.

THE TREASURY BECAME VIRTUALLY THE CENTRE OF GOVERNMENT and NOT THE PRESIDENCY……..Treasury becomes the de-facto president

The IMF have had a stanglehold on South Africa for the last 30 years…when it removed those Austerity Measures in 2002-2008 it showed what is possible.

That is where the CITY OF POWER is and that is the resistance we are facing.
So there has to be a market economy but if you fundamentally shift the market economy into the fundamentals of such things as energy and education and so on, then you will destroy that country.

China & Freeman Agree With The African Charter: “Economic Development is a Human Right”

re posted from                                     AFRICA AND THE WORLD

However, contrary to the UN and U.S., the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, correctly states in Article 22:

All peoples shall have the right to their economic, social, and cultural development…States shall have the duty…to ensure the exercise of the right to development.

China & Freeman Agree With The African Charter: “Economic Development is a Human Right”

June 24, 2023

The concept that economic development is a fundamental human right has been rejected by the United States, the United Nations, Europe, and all Western institutions, including  Non-Government Organizations (NGOs). This failure to understand the essential, vital importance of promoting real-physical economic growth in developing nations has prevented the West from achieving its goals for  human rights, good governance, and democracy, if they are even truly sincere about these objectives.

16 October 2021

Today, Railways Explained brings the story of the first high-speed railway in Africa – Morocco’s Al Boraq. Linking the two cities, Casablanca and Tangier, Al Boraq was named after the mythical creature that, according to a legend, transported Islamic prophets, among others, the Prophet Muhammad – for example, from Mecca to Jerusalem, during a so-called Night Journey. Carried out in cooperation with the French SNCF, it is not just the crown jewel of Moroccan rail transport, but in fact of the entire African continent. As we often do in similar videos, we discussed the background and broad context of the project, including the strategic documents published by the state, early studies on feasibility, strategic interests to relieve the existing routes and end the isolation of certain areas, etc; the scope of the project, including the selected alignment, technology, and applied systems; rolling stock, which was produced by Alstom; budget and financing framework; issues that occurred during construction; and finally, the performance of the service.
