Les Forces armées de la République démocratique du Congo (FARDC) ont libéré 127 civils des mains des rebelles d’Allied democratic forces (ADF), le mercredi 01 juin 2022. L’information a été livrée à la presse par le porte-parole des opérations militaires en Ituri, ce jeudi. A en croire le lieutenant Jules Ngongo, ces civils ayant passé plus d’un mois en captivité, ont été libérés à Manzabuko, une localité de la chefferie de Walese-vonkutu au sud d’Irumu. Ce, grâce à une patrouille de combat menée par les éléments du 32062e bataillon Léopard basé à Bamande. « Nous avons levé l’option de poursuivre ces terroristes ADF jusque dans leur retranchement. L’ordre a été donné par le gouverneur militaire et commandant des opérations, le lieutenant-général Luboya N’kashama Johnny, d’intensifier les opérations.
A la suite de ces opérations, les forces armées ont mis les ADF dans un état d’abattement très avancé et cela a permis aux forces armées de libérer nos compatriotes, 127 civils tous des pygmées », a-t-il dit dans une communication à la presse. Pour le moment, ces ex-otages parmi lesquels des femmes, des enfants et des hommes sont à Bamande sous la protection des forces loyalistes, souligne la même source. Il y a quelques jours, l’armée congolaise a annoncé avoir libéré 67 autres civils des mains des ADF en l’espace de 20 jours (du 1er au 20 mai dernier : ndlr) dans la chefferie de Walese-vonkutu en territoire d’Irumu, mais aussi en territoire de Mambasa. Depuis le début de l’année 2022, le porte-parole de l’armée en Ituri affirme que plus de 500 otages ont été libérés par les Forces armées de la République démocratique du Congo dans la même région.

Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Kennedy Kalunga says investment in nuclear energy has immense benefits of reliable, affordable and clean source of electricity.
Mr Kalunga says nuclear energy provides electricity that is not affected by fluctuations in weather patterns.
He says Zambia like many other countries has experienced fluctuations in rainfall patterns arising from climate change which has resulted in deficits in hydro power generation.
Mr Kalunga says the decline in hydro power generation has negatively impacted on the country’s economic development.
