STATE SPONSORED TERRORISM IN SOUTH AFRICA

In the `democratic` South Africa of the post Apartheid era, the government pays gangs of thugs to attack and murder people who live on what are called `informal settlements`. These places are lived in by people who cannot afford to live anywhere else. They are repeatedly attacked by both gangs of state-paid thugs and by municipality authorities called `Land Invasion Units`.

What has been taking place in South Africa against the lowest income group is A REAL CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.

The film below documents one of the countless attacks by the State  on the landless of South Africa since 1994.Since then the violence continues. If you would like to be honored by supporting the social movement that is re-creating Democracy into a `living politic `of the People please visit the Home of Abahlali base Mjondolo.  Africanagenda stands in complete and unshakable solidarity with Abahlali base Mjondolo.

In the early morning hours of September 27th, 2009 an armed mob of about 40 men unleashed a night of intimidation and terror at the Kennedy Road shack settlement in Durban, South Africa. The mob was armed with guns and bush knives and was calling out the names of the President and Vice President of the Abahlali baseMjondolo movement, threatening them with death. In the morning 3 were dead, many injured and over 1,000 of the residents fled the settlement with all they could carry.
