In his final address to the nation as President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Joseph Kabila reminded the nation of his many achievements as Head of State. He said ” je fais ma part pour l’heure. Soyez en rassurer ! ( I have done my part for the hour. Be assured of that!)
He inherited a war zone 18 years ago and to his credit he has returned the DRC to peace and stability despite Congo`s many enemies. He has maintained sovereignty of the Congo`s borders. He has created a democratic electoral process for the nation and has handed over power to the new government with great encouragement and dignity. He has done what has been possible for him to do, to address the theft of Congolese resources and to introduce a mining code.
